@Joshua Smith, PA-C @Joshua Smith, PA-C the original creator being a GI really drives it home…. A better use of using TikTok to discuss your patients medical information (which is problematic in the first place) would be to list symptoms and findings and ask if anyone has insight that you may not. I also want to add: the term “medical gaslighting” is thrown around really lightly these days, and a provider providing evidence that alternatives are not an accurate diagnosis and you don’t agree - that is not medical gaslighting. What IS medical gaslighting is calling your patient a hypochondriac, giving a diagnosis without ruling out differentials and blowing off their concerns. in all seriousness, this type of mindset from providers is really harmful to patients and is why so many of us advocate for better education and open mindedness. The amount of us in this community that have been told the same or worse by a doctor (bonus points if it was a GI), is astounding but also unacceptable. I don’t think this provider was wanting genuine feedback or criticism, but I hope he takes what patients who lived this offers.
