A few more details: The group is called Salt Typhoon. It’s believed they got into our systems about 2 years ago but the investigation started Spring/Summer. They don’t know how big the breach is and can’t say the hackers have been expelled yet. FCC is proposing that communications providers be required to submit an annual certification regarding their plans to protect against cyberattacks. Sung or spoken, the message is the same, gift card scams cost Americans nearly $127 million dollars last year according to the FTC and that number is probably higher since a lot of people don't report being scammed. My friends at Fight Cybercrime org shared a few red flags to look out for in store: 🚩Loose or damaged packaging. 🚩Scratches on the card (pay close attention to the area with the pin or barcode) 🚩Exposed PIN or activation code 🚩Misaligned print or logos. 🚩The card seems too thick (This video was a collaboration with that org a- they fact checked).
