#Gaza update. WFP has enough food pre-positioned and on its way to support over a million people in Gaza for 3 months, planning to move in 150 trucks daily. This includes food parcels, supplies for bakeries, and nutrition supplements for children.
This is a chance to start rebuilding. But a ceasefire is just the first step. After 15 months of war, the needs in #Gaza are immense. Over 2 million people are fully dependent on food assistance, homeless, and without any income. A full humanitarian response is required to build a bridge between crisis and recovery. WFP is ready to scale up and distribute life-saving food for over a million people in Gaza. But we need the right conditions to be able to carry out our work: ▪️A massive influx of aid into Gaza. ▪️All border crossings open and functioning reliably. ▪️Security, access & law and order restored so that humanitarian teams be able to move freely and safely across Gaza to reach those in need. 📢 We call on the international community to scale up funding to support families in Gaza during this critical time.
📍#Ukraine. Let’s step Behind the Lens with WFP Communications Officer and visual storyteller Antoine Vallas, who’ll share with us what it’s like to witness Ukranians’ strength and resilience. ‘As long as we keep moving, we are alive’ says Vitalii, the manager of a bakery who struck Antoine for his dedication to his job 🥖
🌙 🌿 Ever heard of Half Moons? Learn about them with videographer and educator Andrew Millison. 🌳 Over the last five years, WFP and partners have restored over 300,000 hectares of land across the #Sahel, transforming the lives of 4 million people in 3,400 villages. WFP is at #COP16 to showcase and discuss solutions to increase communities’ resilience in light of the expansion of land desertification that is affecting their food security.
Don’t scroll away, this is a glimpse of the reality in #Gaza. WFP’s hot meal kitchens provide food assistance to families, but this is not enough. A ceasefire in #Gaza is long overdue. Life is on pause for over 2 million people without access to food, water, shelter. 🔴 WE NEED AN IMMEDIATE CEASEFIRE.
