Passengers on a Virgin Atlantic flight from London to New York were shocked when their luggage came out at JFK Airport covered in a foul-smelling brown sludge, which many believed was human waste. Viral videos showed suitcases splattered with the substance, and passengers claimed the smell was unbearable. One traveller said airport staff didn’t offer wipes, clean bags, or sanitiser, and just told them to email customer service. Virgin Atlantic later denied the substance was human waste, saying it was grease from a broken pipe at JFK. The airline apologised and said they’re working with airport authorities to fix the issue. A video making rounds on TikTok allegedly shows a tense encounter between a passenger and a bus driver who was reportedly speeding during a trip from Terminal Bersepadu Selatan in Kuala Lumpur to Mersing, Johor. The OP claimed that multiple passengers had asked the driver to slow down, but were repeatedly ignored. The driver allegedly responded dismissively — first telling them to sit down, and later suggesting they drive the bus themselves. It was only after a passenger, said to be the OP’s brother-in-law, confronted the driver directly that he finally reduced his speed. All passengers arrived safely at their destination. A woman named Jiang from Qingdao, China, went on a two-day holiday and came home to an unexpected surprise. Around 70 chicks had hatched from 90 fertilised eggs her family bought to eat. Jiang had left three cartons of ‘huozhuzi’ (fertilised eggs) unrefrigerated, and due to the high temperatures in Qingdao, the eggs ended up hatching. Her son kept two chicks as pets, while the rest were sent to her parents’ home. The hatchery owner later confirmed the eggs had likely hatched because they weren’t kept cold, according to Jimu News. A group of 30 Chinese tourists had a nightmare holiday moment when all their luggage was stolen from their tour bus during a brief stop in Pisa, Italy, China Press reported. The group, who were touring France and Italy from 26 June to 7 July, had left their bags on the bus while visiting the Leaning Tower of Pisa on 3 July. They were gone for less than 30 minutes, but when they returned, every bag and suitcase was missing. One traveller, Jin, said everyone was devastated, especially an elderly woman who had just bought a Rolex for her son. “He didn’t even get to wear it. She nearly had a heart attack,” he told reporters. Thankfully, the tour guide had kept everyone’s passports, so they were able to fly home. The group filed a police report and handed over CCTV footage and GPS data, but Jin claimed the Italian police didn’t follow up. The Chinese embassy in Italy said it would help connect the tourists with a lawyer to work with local authorities to recover their stolen belongings. More news updates on @saysdotcom! #SAYSnews
If you've ever tried explaining to a foreign friend that Malaysia isn't just a jungle and we don't live in trees, this viral clip might do the job for you. A video by @/nomadspritz (Instagram) has recently gone viral for turning the "developed vs developing" narrative on its head. He points out that even Kuala Lumpur feels cleaner and safer than most cities he's visited. And that includes places in so-called "developed" countries. In contrast, he describes countries like the US and parts of Europe as crumbling under systems that put profit over people, from healthcare to housing. rahhhh Malaysia mentioned 🦅 A man recently went viral on TikTok after sharing a tongue-in-cheek comparison between Malaysia and the UK. Most were actually backhanded compliments to Malaysia. He joked that the UK has higher crime rates, bland food despite stealing spices, violent sports fans, and speaks only one language—unlike Malaysia. His final point was more serious, noting Malaysia’s stray animal issue and encouraging better management, as the UK once faced similar challenges. Israel has released a video showing its forces handing out sandwiches and water to international activists who were arrested after their ship, the Madleen, was intercepted on its way to Gaza. The vessel, part of the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, was around 160km from Gaza when it was stopped. Armed Israeli forces boarded the ship, ordered the crew to throw their phones into the sea, and cut off all communication. The activists were trying to deliver much-needed aid and medical supplies to besieged Palestinians in Gaza. According to Al Jazeera, the 12 detained volunteers — including climate activist Greta Thunberg — are now being taken to the Israeli port of Ashdod. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs posted a video on X showing the detainees being given food and water, with the caption: "All the passengers of the ‘selfie yacht’ are safe and unharmed. They were provided with sandwiches and water. The show is over." The post has drawn backlash online, with critics calling it a propaganda move. Many pointed out the irony of detaining volunteers who were attempting to deliver aid — and then publicising that they were being fed. Follow @saysdotcom for more news updates. #SAYSnews
