4 Walmart finds for people living with diabetes I love me some Wally World, so I’m here with 4 of my recent faves that are friendly for blood sugars: 1. Kraft shredded part skim cheese. This is a daily thing for me at lunch, but it’s a great source of protein, no carbs, and is delish on so many good food options 2. Archer farm turkey sticks - these are a great high protein snack for on the go type of days. Minimal carbs and the taste is 🤌🏻 3. Boneless skinless chicken breast - amazing versatile protein source, and you can cook them in the oven with minimal effort (how I survived grad school) 4. Applesauce pouches - great as a low snack or to add an easy fruit serving to a lunch, and very family friendly Let me know what I missed, and if you want another part in this series #type1diabetes #t1dlookslikeme #diabeteseducation
You don’t understand diabetes unless you live with it! One way to illustrate: Today, you wake up after a late night so you’ve had less sleep than you normally do. You eat your typical breakfast… …and your blood sugar shoots up to 225. Your brain starts thinking the following: 🍕 Was it the food? 🍕 Was it insulin resistance from breakfast? 🍕 Was it insulin resistance from less sleep than normal? You decide to go on a walk but then you start thinking, ‘I have insulin on board, will my blood sugar tank? Is that ok?’ You go anyway. You’re 25 minutes into your walk and your back in range. YAY!... …but then you get home and within 5 minutes you’re hearing the dreaded low alert sound and your 65. This is the SAME walk you ALWAYS take and your number typically stops dropping fast. Did the hot temperatures make it drop faster? Was it just a fluke? These are the types of struggles that you ONLY get if you live with diabetes, since youre not just thinking 5 minutes ahead -you're thinking 5 hours ahead, and sometimes, 5 days. So when i say you odnt get it unless you have it, this is what i mean #type1diabetes #diabetesawareness #highbloodsugar
