@Ed Sheeran singing in PUNJABI? calls for an Indian classical fusion rendition! Love the cultural appreciation 🫶 this song is a bop! (Btw I am formally trained in #bharatanatyam and this is inspired by it!) #dance #sapphire
Indian classical fusion to Ed Sheeran x Arijit Singh 🫶 Punjabi is such a beautiful language!! #dance #sapphire Just fyi - this dance is actually Bharatanatyam, which is Indian classical dance originating from South India (Tamilnadu)! Punjabi dance forms include other forms like Bhangra and Giddha which I am not doing here (I am not trained in those) 💃 just wanted to clarify :)
Part 2/4 of my WOD 2025 HEADLINER performance- when your jewelry won’t stay on but you gotta keep going! haha (full YouTube vid linked on my bio!) It was an honor to be invited by @worldofdance as Headliner to represent my style and blend of culture, my Indian American identity! I’ve been doing Bharatanatyam since I was just 4 years old- little me literally grew up watching WOD wondering if there would ever be a space for a dancer like me! I never would’ve thought I’d be on that very stage, doing Bharatanatyam! Truly a full circle moment :) I had so much fun choreographing this. 🫶 Each song was chosen with intention!: ✨ I started by sharing a glimpse of abhinaya (expression), -then drew a connection with my (predominantly non-desi) audience with Nokia, -transitioned into one of my favorite Bollywood tracks, -and closed with a song in my mother tongue, Telugu. Im always trying to grow as a dancer and explore what feels like my own style of fusion! Hope y’all enjoy! 💕 can’t wait to hopefully do more big things like this!! Choreography + song selection by: me :) Mix by: @sphmre Songs: The Kapi Dance- Mahesh Raghavan and Nandini Shankar Nokia- Drake Rani Intro song- Rocky or Rani! Naatu Naatu- RRR 🫶 #indianclassical #dance #abhinaya #telugusong #worldofdance
