I don't know what I love more: Cale's "| threw my back out" walk or the fact these will be the stairs in our new home our kids will run up and down daily. As the oldest of 4 and Michael being the oldest of 5, when we first got married, I thought 4-5 kids would be great so when we bypassed that and more people started questioning how many, the answer we started giving was "all of them. Just a guy and girl 20 years after we met

Who's been here for her pregnancy and birth? Happy first birthday Mikiah Grace!! Our spirited, smart little bird who loves to say "mommy, more me, daddy", and according to her big brothers, all of their names We all love you so so much! Birth story: my babies are usually "late" so I fully expected to go at least a few more days, but on the morning of the 15th, I started having very sporadic contractions (painful when they came, but not regular) and, because I have prodromal labor for weeks, I didn't think much of it and continued my day, but Michael knew it was starting the real deal. I had a work project to submit and knocked out the editing and submitted it. By 7:30 pm, they finally became consistent at 9 min apart, but lasting a full minute and a half, and by 7:45, I called the midwife (just to ensure she was here in time) though I was still of the belief they'd fizzle out. Michael knew it was real. By 8pm, they were 6-7 min apart and very strong. And just before 8:30, they were 5-6 min apart and still lasting over a minute. When my midwife arrived, I was almost 9cm, which shocked me considering contractions weren't closer than 5 min apart. She was born at 9:44 pm with her hand up by her face (likely why labor was longer- for me- without contractions getting closer) at 7lbs 10oz and 20" long, our second smallest baby, but perfectly healthy! I snuggled in to the bed with her for a few minutes before looking myself to see she was our SECOND GIRL. Honestly, it's still so shocking to me to have another girl.
