Do you think Nanook enjoyed it? 🧼🐾💜 Nanook came to us from the shelter last month. He was going to be euthanized because he was beyond terrified after his family dumped him. 💔 Despite everything he has been through at such a young age, Nanook is the most affectionate, snuggly, and happy boy. Adoptable through @Underdog Heroes he is a 1yr old puppy. He is so smart and so easy to train-he wants to please you more than anything and is not stubborn at all. He is crate trained, house trained, neutered, and vaccinated. His favorite activity is snuggling with his hoomans 🥹 He is being fostered in the PNW. #husky #dogsoftiktok #dogbath #doggrooming #asmr

We don’t often showcase the worst of it with some of our long-term behavioral fosters because that’s not truly who they are. These dogs are innocent—they’ve been dealt a difficult hand through no fault of their own. Take Regulus, for example—he was scared, abandoned, and desperately needed someone to believe in him. Building trust didn’t happen overnight; it took countless baby steps to ensure not only his safety but also the safety of those around him. These dogs should never have been put in a position where they felt the need to defend themselves because of what people have done to them in the past. This process isn’t easy, but it’s undeniably rewarding to watch an innocent dog begin to open up, realize they’re safe, and understand that not all humans are bad. For transparency, we knew what we were getting into and carefully prepared an environment where he could succeed. It’s important to remember that the majority of dogs in shelters are *not* aggressive. Many who are labeled as such are simply reactive or terrified. These innocent souls just need time—sometimes months, sometimes years—but with patience, healing happens. Regulus isn’t quite ready for adoption yet, but when the time comes, he’ll need an experienced, loving home to help him continue to thrive. 🥰 #rescuedog #fosterdog #dogsoftiktok #mastiff
