As Shalom is getting more and more obsessed with Skylar, I’m being even more conscious about teaching him our “rules”. One of them is that we make sure to associate Skylar’s name with good things! So, since he said her name like a million times here I gave him a treat (I always keep some in my pockets) to give Skylar so that she continues to respond when she hears us call her. One thing this is really important for is recall! I never call her name or say come when I want to groom her, brush her teeth, clean her ears etc or if she has something she shouldn’t — rather I will go over to her because I don’t want her to ever hesitate upon hearing her name called and think, oh maybe something unpleasant or that I don’t love is about to happen.
